Tackle Football

Grades 2 through 6. Fall season only. Helmets, pads and high-school-caliber coaching.

PYSA Tackle Football is the cornerstone of our program. Since joining the Texas Youth Football League (TYFL) in 2015, Prosper Tackle has brought home 33 Super Bowl Championships — and in 2025 fielded 18 teams, 430 athletes and over 100 coaches.

Divisions

  • Mites

    2nd Grade

    Introduction to tackle — fundamentals, contact and pad familiarity.

  • PeeWee

    3rd – 4th Grade

    Core schemes, full contact, position-based development.

  • Junior

    5th Grade

    Advanced playbook, playoff-eligible competition.

  • Senior

    6th Grade

    Pre-middle-school caliber. Develops a direct pipeline into PISD high school programs.

Season & Schedule

When We Play

Tackle is a fall-only season. Practices begin in summer (typically late July) with games running August through November plus playoffs.

Home weekends are played at PYSA's home tackle field in Prosper. Away weekends rotate across TYFL host cities throughout North Texas.

The PISD Pipeline

PYSA Tackle partners with all three PISD high schools to develop their pipeline of future athletes. Each PISD high school hosts a tackle coaches' clinic every summer — directly connecting our staff with the schemes and culture our kids will play in down the road.
