Common Questions

Is lacrosse safe?

Yes — when played with the right gear and proper coaching. Boys lacrosse is a contact sport with helmets and pads similar to football. Girls lacrosse is a non-contact sport requiring goggles and a mouthguard.

We've never played — can we still join?

Absolutely. The majority of our K-3 players are brand new. PYSA Lacrosse is built to teach the game from the very first stick pickup.

What equipment do we need?

Boys: helmet, shoulder pads, arm pads, gloves, mouthguard, stick and cleats. Girls: goggles, mouthguard, stick and cleats. Goalies wear additional gear. We have loaner equipment available for new families — ask the commissioners.

When is the season?

Our primary youth season is Spring (roughly January through May). HS Boys also plays a Spring season.

Where are practices and games?

Practices are held at fields throughout the Prosper area. Games are played against North Texas clubs and high schools, typically on weekends.

How much does it cost?

Fees vary by program and season — see each program page for current Spring 2026 registration links and pricing.

How do I volunteer or coach?

We always need volunteer coaches and team parents. Reach out to either of our Co-Commissioners and we'll get you plugged in — no prior coaching experience required.

Still Have Questions?
